Our Story

Whether you’re pouring a glass at home or visiting in person, La Cienega Vineyard invites you to be part of our story.

Nestled in the southern hills of Sonoma’s Alexander Valley, just off Chalk Hill Road, La Cienega Vineyard is a family-owned, woman-led estate where the spirit of sustainability meets the art of winemaking. Sixteen acres of Cabernet Sauvignon flourish on volcanic, loamy clay soils at up to 400 feet of elevation, where cool nights and long growing seasons allow grapes to develop remarkable depth and character.

Since its first harvest in 2001, La Cienega has grown from selling premium grapes to Napa and Sonoma wineries, to producing vineyard-designate wines that reflect both the richness of the land and the care of those who tend it. Certified sustainable, the vineyard relies on thoughtful practices—from owl boxes for natural pest control to composting that nourishes the soil—ensuring the land thrives for generations to come. Each grape cluster is handpicked, gently crushed, oak-aged with minimal intervention, and matured in bottle before being released in limited allocations.

The wines themselves tell the story of this place: bold estate Cabernet Sauvignons with elegant structure, versatile red blends with unique varietals, and crisp, vibrant rosés that capture the freshness of the vineyard hillsides. When you uncork a bottle—whether Helle’s Harvest, Werner’s Reserve, or Singing Angels—you taste both a sense of place and a touch of family heritage.

Guided by a circle of women known affectionately as the “Ladies Round Table,” La Cienega Vineyard invites you to share in more than fine wine—it’s a celebration of land, family, and the enduring promise of Alexander Valley.
